Research Says A 3-Day Workweek May Be Best For Those Over 40 Years Old

Let’s be honest: nobody is really a fan of the five-day work week. But if you want a reason to work less, science has your back. If you’re over the age of 40, at least. According to a report published in the Melbourne Institute Worker Paper, those over the age of 40 are at their most productive when they work three days a week or less. The researchers came to this conclusion after following 3,000 male and 3,500 female volunteers, Newser explained. During the study, researchers asked the participants to complete cognitive tests and analyzed their work habits, memory, executive reasoning, and abstract reasoning. The cognitive tests included asking the volunteers to read text backwards, read words aloud, and match numbers and letters under time pressure. As HuffPost explained, the participants' cognitive performance improved as the researchers increased their working hours up to 25 hours. However, after 25 hours the researchers found that performance began to decline in ...

Lying In A Long Hot Bath Burns As Many Calories As A 30 Minute Walk

Millions of people complain that they do not get enough exercise or physical activity during the day. Most of them say they are too tired when they arrive home from work to do anything strenuous. However, is anyone ever too tired or too busy to enjoy a nice, long, warm, and soothing bath? And what if we told you that an hour spent in a hot bath can burn as many calories as a half an hour spent walking? In 2016, Dr. Faulkner analyzed healthy and obese men who either did 60 minutes of moderate cycling or bathed in 104°F water. The ones who bathed burned 79% more calories than they would have if they spent the time sitting on the couch, while the ones biking burned 750% more calories than when at rest. Even though exercise is the best way to lose weight and shape up, bathing accelerates metabolism too and can be of great help to people who are tired or feel muscle pain. Despite burning calories, bathing offers other health benefits as well. According to the Minneapolis-bas...

New Research Says Intelligent People Are Messy, Stay Up Late, And Curse a Lot

According to Genius Tests: “Popular opinion may cause one to believe that those with high IQ scores are gifted beyond reason in their ability to perform intellectual tasks, such as solve complex mathematical and technical problems with little effort. In reality, intelligence is someone’s ability to acquire and apply knowledge; meaning that someone’s intelligence is more a measure of their ability to adapt what they know to new settings. However, it is true that the higher someone’s IQ is, the more easily they will be able to pick up new understandings; so people with high intelligence might find it easier to perform in school or at work, as well as pick up new skills more quickly with fewer repetitions. While many may believe that creativity is an absolute marker of high intelligence, there are many more ways signs of high intelligence manifest themselves. “ Well, believe it or not, scientists now maintain that people who swear, are messy and stay up late are actually highl...

The Best Marriage Advice from a Divorced Man

“If we make the conscious decision to daily place our spouse’s desires and needs above our own, and that’s reciprocated, the marriage will succeed. Utter and complete selflessness. Isn’t this true in all healthy relationships?” My advice after a divorce following 16 years of marriage, by Gerald Rogers. Obviously, I’m not a relationship expert. But there’s something about my divorce being finalized this week that gives me perspective of things I wish I would have done different… After losing a woman that I loved, and a marriage of almost 16 years, here’s the advice I wish I would have had: Never Stop Courting Never stop dating. NEVER EVER take that woman for granted. When you asked her to marry you, you promised to be that man that would OWN HER HEART and to fiercely protect it. This is the most important and sacred treasure you will ever be entrusted with. SHE CHOSE YOU. Never forget that, and NEVER GET LAZY in your love. Protect Your Own Heart Just as you committed t...

Strong Women Would Rather Be Alone Than Spend Their Time with Assholes

“I believe in strong women. I believe in the woman who is able to stand up for herself. I believe in the woman who doesn’t need to hide behind her husband’s back. I believe that if you have problems, as a woman you deal with them, you don’t play a victim, you don’t make yourself look pitiful, you don’t point fingers. You stand and you deal. You face the world with a head held high and you carry the universe in your heart.”  – C. JoyBell C. Strong women are independent and are thus happy on their own, and do not need a man to give them the stability and peace in life.  These women find dating not crucial in order to feel fulfilled, and the time not spent dating becomes more valuable and meaningful. Yet, being a strong woman is much more difficult than you think, as they are determined to cope with all challenges in life alone, and depend on their own only. Power Of Positivity maintains: Find Out More > “Strong women know more than anything else that taking...

Young Girl Gets Period On Bus Then Teen Boy Approaches Her Whispering Remark Going Viral

Learning about the birds and the bees is meant to be helpful and educational, but if truth be told, it can be pretty embarrassing for kids to have “the talk.” Add to that the worry over when a girl might start her cycle and experience it for the very first time, possibly in front of others, and you can see why tweens and teens can get a little anxious about this rite of passage. A young girl had this horrifying experience for the first time ever while on the way home from school. She was riding the bus and sadly, wasn’t the only one who noticed what had suddenly happened. Too many kids to count noticed what had happened to her. When a boy walked up to her on the bus, she expected some rude or snide comment. But instead, he did something so heartwarming that the girl’s mom just had to share their story on social media. Others have been chiming in with how great the guy’s actions were, too. Her mom posted in the Guragaon Moms Facebook group what had hap...

Studies Find That There’s a Link Between a Cluttered Home and Depression

If you’re at home right now, take a moment to look around you. What do you see? Do you see a tidy home in which everything (well, practically everything!) is in its right place, or do you see total chaos and disorganization? If it’s the latter, don’t feel bad, it happens to the best of us every once and a while–but, if this is a very common occurrence in your life, there might be something more serious going on. A series of studies used in the writing of the book  Life at Home in the 21st Century: 32 Families Open Their Doors , show that people, especially women, living in cluttered homes experience heightened levels of stress hormones, the same kind that contributes to depression. This experience was outlined in psychiatrist  Dr. Audrey Sherman’s “Dysfunction Interrupted” column on PsychCentral . In it, Dr. Sherman reveals that she finds disorganization and the chaos that comes with it to be “the biggest problems to be reported by depressed in...
